Al terminar la Guerra Civil española en 1939 José María Escrivá contaba con catorce hombres y dos mujeres para desarrollar el Opus Dei. Al finalizar la Segunda Guerra Mundial en 1945 serán más de doscientos veinte varones y casi treinta mujeres quienes le siguen. Estos jóvenes extenderán su mensaje por las ciudades españolas y prepararán su expansión internacional. Son años de formación intensa, de rumores e incomprensiones y también de deslumbramiento por la novedad del mensaje, tanto en el seno de la Iglesia como en la sociedad civil.

On the cover it has a beautiful drawing by Fray Gabriel Chavez de la Mora. This cover, with the two rings intertwined before the cross--represents the vows of love with which a new Christian family is formed. The same drawing also alludes to the weddings of Cana, where the Lord did his first miracle of turning water into wine.

The book proposes a prayer path that is travelled with the eyes fixed on Jesus (an expression from the letter to the Hebrews). As a starting point to live this Jesus experience in silence, the author invites all those who have made an option of life for Jesus in different ways, to welcome the expressive force of water, “useful, pure and humble”, to which so many times Jesus appealed as a brand of his preaching.
