La sobrevivencia del uso de la lengua pame otorga a su estudio una importancia singular. Anterior a la llegada de Hern n Cort s, el pueblo pame tuvo su asiento en parte de los actuales estados de Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Quer taro, San Luis Potos y Tamaulipas.
