Los predicadores novohispanos del siglo XVI

Se reúne las ponencias presentadas en este encuentro realizado en la PUCP, agosto del 2003. Los artículos esbozan una aproximación a una historia comparada entre Perú y México, países cuyos territorios albergaron a dos de las más altas culturas de la antigüedad americana y que fueron sede de los virreinatos fundados en el Nuevo Mundo durante el s. XVI.

"Revisionist view of the traditional interpretation of 1923 revolt as a reaction against Obregón's imposition of Calles. Authors study four different regional revolts between 1923-24, all with different leaders and provoked by different causes: Rómulo Figueroa in Guerrero, Enrique Estrada in Jalisco, Guadalupe Sánchez in Veracruz, and Fortunato Maycotte in Oaxaca. Rebels failed because of a lack of central control or unifying program. Exhibition of the mural and the art surrounding Diego Rivera's famous mural " Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central". Completed in 1947, the mural depicts scenes and people from the Spanish Conquest to the middle of the 20th century. The exhibition is based on the documentary collection of the great collector Ricardo Pérez Escamilla. The exhibition unites in order the documents and original publications that have iconographic roots in the mural. Author Alejandra Mora explores a fascinating aspect of vernacular photography: the "amplifications in cloth", a long field research that started in the town of San Pablo Huitzo, Etla, Oaxaca, and spanned all the way into Mexico City with the intention of locating the creators of such unique portraits, who using new technologies have managed to satisfy customer demands. Illuminated images that satisfied the popular beauty conceptions of the body, hairstyles, fashion and jewelry, including the wedding photography.
