Es el análisis de dos artes arqueológicos en piedra, de la costa del Golfo de México. El más antiguo nació en tiempos olmecas. Es el de las piezas conocidas como “hachas”. De desarrollo posterior son las llamadas “palmas”. Son dos tipos de piezas diferentes, aunque con el tiempo las primeras recibieron influencias de las segundas. Dice el autor que lo que está escupidos en esos dos artes, no son simplemente “decoraciones, sino representaciones cuyo descifre es el objeto de este libro.
