El Terror Castrista tiene su origen con la llegada a Cuba del soldado gallego Ángel María Bautista Castro Argiz que había llegado a Cuba con el Ejército Español el 30 de septiembre de 1895 con las tropas del General Valeriano Weyler y Nicolau. Regresó a Cuba como emigrante, desembarcando en el vapor francés Mavane por el puerto de La Habana el día 3 de diciembre de 1899.
